The mountains play essential roles in all areas of life on Earth - from biodiversity to legacy of
rich traditions and cultures. They constitute a separate ‘world’ to be valued, preserved and
promoted. Mountains are the home of countless plant and animal species as well as roughly a
billion people globally. Because of this, mountains hold significant cultural value for the
heritage of local communities. The aim of the conference that is a real panorama on the
mountain areas is to discuss the revaluation and preservation of this immense tangible and
intangible heritage.

Accompanying events: permanent and temporal exhibitions at the Tatra Museum; concert:
Trebunie Tutki from Zakopane and Quintet Urmuli from Georgia; guided tour to the Tatra
