Call for Papers

Submit a Proposal

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to share with you the Call for Papers for the Sixteenth Global Studies Conference, to be hosted by Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK, 19-21 July 2023.

The Global Studies Research Network is devoted to mapping and interpreting past and emerging trends and patterns in globalization. We seek to build an epistemic community where we can make linkages across disciplinary, geographic, and cultural boundaries

Sign up for our newsletter, like us on Facebook and LinkedIn, or join the CGScholar Community to keep up to date.

Program

Each year the Global Studies Conference attracts participants from all over the world. Our Program Development team draws on this diversity to craft a rich and distinctive blended conference experience, with session types and programming explicitly designed to make the most of online and place-based social knowledge processes.

Special Focus

Agency in an Era of Displacement and Social Change

In addition to the annual focus, we invite proposals addressing one of the following themes.

Plenary Speaker

Dr. Eunice Goes

Professor of Politics, Richmond University, London, UK

In-Person + Online

You can present and/or attend as an In-Person or Online Only delegate. Our model seeks to transcend physical boundaries by offering a platform to extend in-person conference content online while ensuring online-only delegates are afforded participatory and experiential spaces within the platform. At the same time, the model offers participants a legacy resource to which they can return in the CGScholar Event microsite, with access to a social space in our Community application where fellow participants can keep connected long after the conference ends.

With this step-by-step guide, you can get an insight into the new phases pre/during/post-conference of the blended conference experience.

Social Events

Oxford Walking Tour: University and City

Join the other delegates and plenary speakers on a pre-conference walking tour in Oxford. Join a university-educated guide, with years of experience and local knowledge of Oxford City and colleges. During the tour you'll see the dreamy spires of one of the oldest universities in the world on a guided walking tour, and go inside some of the city’s most historic colleges.

Conference Dinner @ Brasserie Blanc

Located in the heart of historic Jericho, Oxford Brasserie Blanc is the original Brasserie Blanc and is very much loved by all the attendees. With a light airy dining space to the front and a more intimate, cozy dining room to the back, this gorgeous brasserie is perfect whether you are dropping by for lunch, drinks or dinner.
