CFP: 2019 Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union

Deadline: February 15, 2019

The European Union Center of California at Scripps College is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2019 Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union, which will take place on April 4 & 5, 2019 on Scripps Campus.

The primary purpose of this conference is to enhance undergraduate training in and knowledge of the European Union and US-European relations. In addition, the aim of the conference is to allow students with expertise in different areas to interact with each other as well as with faculty, foster intercampus cooperation, and recognize the excellent work achieved by students. Students will present and discuss their research in a panel format, each panel being composed of three to five students. Each presentation  will be followed by questions and a discussion moderated by a faculty discussant. The conference will include a keynote address. At the conclusion of the conference, faculty participants will nominate and select the “best papers” of the conference. Selected papers will be published in a special volume of conference proceedings. In addition, the EU Center of California and its partner  institutions will be offering awards for top papers with study tours to Europe over the summer. Students may pursue a wide range of topics that reflect their interest, expertise, and past research. Topics may deal with any aspect of European integration or transatlantic relations. Papers can be about the EU, a particular country within the EU, or the EU’s relationship with outside countries.

Applications with abstract are due February 15. Final papers are due on March 15.
